About us
At Safe Places, its all about the young people.
Each child is unique and has their own story to tell. So, we use an individualised approach while tailoring care plans, personalising their living environment, and surrounding them with a thoughtfully chosen team of youth workers.
Our care model and therapeutic practices are designed to establish trust with the young person, support their development, and improve their social and emotional outcomes.
Established in 2006 as a not-for-profit organisation with operations in Queensland, our guiding philosophy has always been rooted in providing care, support, affection, and hope to young persons who have been through traumatic and challenging experiences. Over the years, our dedicated team has successfully supported over 2000 young people between
the ages of 10 and 17. From our humble beginnings as a small, passionate group of youth workers, Safe Places has evolved into an organisation with local teams committed to aiding vulnerable young people across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia, and we continue to grow.
Our Core Values
At Safe Places, Unity, Support, Responsiveness, Passion, and Professionalism converge to define the fabric of our ethos. Each member of our team plays a role in creating a positive work environment where they feel nurtured and valued.
We encourage everyone to share their ideas and suggestions, while also promoting transparency and teamwork. We celebrate successes, tackle challenges together, and learn from each other’s experiences. Continuous improvement is vital, which is why we invest in ongoing training to enhance skills, foster leadership, and create opportunities for career growth.
Together, we are committed to providing innovative care solutions that exceed expectations and improve outcomes for young people in our care.
Safe Places is more than an organisation; we’re a passionate community devoted to making a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable young Australians.
Our Service Delivery Areas
Safe Places is adept at working in close collaboration with statutory child protection agencies and multi-disciplinary, wraparound providers, where negotiated contracts, confidential information, shared goals, collaborative planning and respective roles in the young person's case plan are clear.
In each operational area, we build and nurture a local network of allied health professionals, emergency services, drug and alcohol units, education and training facilities, employment services, disability services, secure welfare services, and Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations and cultural support teams.
We engage in regular therapeutic clinics andcomplex case conferences involving departmental stakeholders, therapists, education providers, family and former and future carers.
All of these linkages reflect recommendations from reforms around Australia, as we are committed to establishing a national standard of care that exceeds individual state-based frameworks over the long-term.
